St.Patricks Day and Easter Handouts

My last lesson was on The atonement and how it helps us through trials...
First of all we started out talking about who we are, and where we came from.  We are DAUGHTERS of THE Heavenly King.  That makes us most precious, gives us hope and empowers us to conquer trials and hardships that will be placed in front of us.  Nothing can change who we are except for our belief in who we are.  Believe in the fact of who you are and if you are having a hard time knowing who you are,  seek in prayer and scripture that testimony for yourselves. We then talked about how black clouds can represent our trials in life and learned why we have trials...2 Nephi 2:11, Mosiah 23:21, Ether 12:27, D&C 122:4-9 were a few reasons.  We then talked about how we have been given promises from our Father in Heaven to help us through our trials.  We used a rainbow stating those promises.  D&C 68:6, D&C 121:7-10, Matt 11:28-30, Alma 36:3, Mosiah 24:14, John 14:27.  How do we know that these promises are going to be kept???  Because of the Atonement..our pot of God..Our GREATEST, ENDLESS, TREASURE!  Our Savior went through it all, our hurts, disappointments, sadness, guilt etc.  to know how to comfort us,  Alma 7:11-13.  When we go through our trials we can become better or bitter.  If we choose to endure them with the help of the Lord we will always see silver linings to those black clouds (trials)  D&C 58:3-4
"No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted.  It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude, and humility.  All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God... and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in heaven."  -Orson F. Whitney, quoted by Spencer W. Kimball, in Faith Precedes the Miracle (1972)
For Easter, When I was in the Relief Society Presidency with Norma Jean we did a little treat and scripture thing that was about the Saviors life, summarized into a "egg shell"  We thought that we would bring it back for the young women.

I don't teach again until next month, so until then...What project will be next?

New Calling

So I have been Secretary over the YW for about 1/2 year or so.  The Beehive adviser had a baby so I have been filling in for her.  We decided that it might be a good idea to switch callings, her being busy with 2 little ones and Me falling in love with the Beehives!  Here are a few things to share!
Amy and I wanted the girls to know of the love Heavenly Father has for them and help them realize that they are daughters of God so we each came up with a 4 ideas for them to open each day to open their eyes to this beautiful truth!

Prayer rock poem with a diamond rock (A girls Best Friend)

True Beauty comes from within (Our attitudes affect our beauty)

Every Answer to Every Prayer can be found in the Scriptures

A letter from Mom and a letter to Mom...A jar of getting to know each other questions and a lil somethin somethin to munch on

The Cute Box it was all put in

A Letter from Heavenly Father

A lot of work and we hope it was worth it!  I didn't get a picture of Amys things but they were awesome!

The next project we came up with is one from the Personal Progress book in the Virtue area.  We have challenged the girls to read the Book Of Mormon and have given some incentives to do it.  We came up with a "Menu" to feast upon the words.  We handed this out with a loaf of bread, talking about how He is the bread of life.
